NATO summit should bring Ukraine closer to Alliance - Polish Senate Marshal.

The July NATO summit should bring Ukraine closer to the Alliance.

Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki, who wore a Ukrainian embroidered shirt to the meeting, said this during a joint media briefing on Wednesday in Warsaw with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the speaker of the upper house of the Polish parliament, the Senate, as well as the entire Polish people, consistently support Ukraine in light of Russia's barbaric aggression.

"We are doing everything to ensure that Ukraine's victory in this clash with the barbarians happens as soon as possible and ends with the full restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity," Grodzki said.

According to him, the Senate of the Republic of Poland is making significant efforts to support Ukraine, in particular by adopting four resolutions in support of Ukraine: on Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, on recognizing the Russian leadership as a terrorist regime, on condemning the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and attempts to Russify them.

The Polish politician expressed hope that during the July NATO summit in Vilnius "the next step will be taken to ensure that Ukraine joins NATO structures as soon as possible."

According to him, Poland's priorities in European politics are the fastest possible integration and the next steps towards Ukraine's membership in the EU.

"We are very impressed that despite the war and Russia's barbaric attacks against the civilian population, Ukraine is fulfilling the conditions for membership one by one, so I hope that this process will quickly end with Ukraine's accession to the EU," the Marshal of the Senate of Poland emphasized.

He also thanked Ukraine for fulfilling its obligations to supply food to Asian and African countries during the war.

"And it is not Ukraine's fault that food transit through Poland was inexplicably disrupted. It is necessary to export Ukrainian grain and open elevators for the next harvest so that the world does not suffer from hunger because of the war, because that was Putin's intention: to cause anti-Ukrainian sentiment in the countries that imported grain," the Polish Senate Marshal emphasized.

He also emphasized that everything possible should be done to stop the crime of taking Ukrainian children to Russia and bring them back home as soon as possible.

Grodzki said that Poland and the Senate unequivocally support the need to punish Russian criminals in the International Criminal Court, which is already prosecuting individual Russians, as well as the creation of a special tribunal for the crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported, Stefanchuk will address Polish lawmakers in the Sejm on Thursday.
