PM Shmyhal calls on G7 ministers to take lead in rebuilding Ukraine.

Ukraine calls on all international partners to take the lead in rebuilding regions, communities, or cities.

"I have repeatedly said that the victory of our army on the battlefield is 50% of Ukraine's victory. The other 50% will come when Ukraine becomes an economically successful member of the European Union," the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said, addressing the development ministers of the G7 countries on May 18, the Government portal informs.

The Head of Government stressed that Russia continued to inflict terrible losses on Ukraine just to prevent our country's European choice. But with the support of partners, Ukraine, he said, hopes not only to rebuild what has been destroyed but also to build a new economy and a new country.

"The European Commission estimates the recovery plan at EUR 500-600 billion. Our Government has already embarked on developing a large-scale plan for the restoration and modernization of our state," Shmyhal said.

During the reconstruction, as the PM noted, Ukraine seeks to use the approaches that will be the basis of the plan. These include regionality, where partner countries and corporations help rebuild a specific city or region, and the development of specific parameters for the reconstruction and transformation of each sector of the economy.

The G7 development ministers, for their part, noted that the G7, as a club of the economically strongest countries, stands ready to take a leading role in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian president Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The United States, the European Union, and other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia as an aggressor state, whose international isolation is growing by the day.
