Russia's Supreme Court on March 16 labeled as a terrorist organization the Free Russia legion, an armed group consisting of Russian citizens that fights alongside Ukraine's armed forces against invading Russian armed forces. Former Russian lawmaker Ilya Ponomaryov, who currently resides in Kyiv, announced the creation of the Free Russia legion shortly after Russia launched its full-scale aggression against Ukraine in February last year.
