Russian occupiers have ruined a synagogue in the besieged port city of Mariupol, Donetsk region.
Adviser to the Mariupol mayor, Petro Andriushchenko, broke the news of the incident on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“They have once again confirmed their shameful status as Ruscists. Russian ‘liberators’ are destroying everything on their path and have already surpassed the Nazis in the number of war crimes. Like the Germans during World War 2 they are destroying Jewish community buildings. In Mariupol, the Russian army destroyed the building of the ‘old synagogue’ and the community center. Real present-day barbarians!” reads Andriushchenko’s post.
Russia's aggression has provoked one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes in Mariupol. The city is practically destroyed with residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, schools, hospitals, and enterprises have been reduced to ruins.
There is no proper supply of power, water, and gas in Mariupol. The mayor has reported up to 20,000 civilian deaths in the city since the beginning of the Russian invasion. As of today, about 100,000 citizens remain in Mariupol.
