It was impossible to evacuate the civilians of Energodar due to hostilities and damage to the bridge in Kamianske area, which would provide a direct route to Zaporizhia, the mayor of the city Dmytro Orlov reports.
"Due to the damage to the bridge in the area of Kamianske, there is no direct route to Zaporizhia now. Transport now goes to Zaporizhia through Orikhovske direction from Vasilyivka and other bypasses. Today, Energodar residents did not have a safe opportunity to get safely to Vasylivka and further through Orikhiv and Zaporizhia due to the turbulent situation on this stretch of the road," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Orlov also noted that tentatively, on March 16 at 11:00 am, the Ukrainian side will again try to form a convoy of its own cars if it is possible to create safe bypass corridors. At the same time, he stressed that there would be no special evacuation buses from Energodar, since "they just will not pass along that road."
In addition, the mayor of the city informed that on March 16, the city authorities plan to organize a one-time hot meal at the Energodar gymnasium No. 1 and Energodar gymnasium No. 7 (schools No. 1 and No. 7) from 12:30 to 15:00. In order to get food, civilians need to have a passport with them.
