Fighter jet coalition: Zelensky, European leaders agree to continue work at Ramstein format meeting.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders agreed to continue the work on an official decision to create a coalition of fighter jets at the next Ramstein format meeting, after future consultations with the American side.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to the president’s press service.

As part of a visit to Moldova to participate in a summit of the European Political Community, President Volodymyr Zelensky held an informal meeting with the leaders of European countries within the coalition of fighter jets.

In particular, among meeting participants were Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo.

The leaders discussed practical issues related to the start of training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets and other types of aircraft. The parties agreed to start this process in the near future.

The participants also discussed the future supply of aircraft and the creation of the necessary infrastructure for them.

“The President of Ukraine and the European leaders agreed to continue working on an official decision to create a coalition of combat aircraft (Ukraine's Sky Shield) at the next meeting in the Ramstein format after future consultations with the American side,” the report says.

At the meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky also raised the issue of the need to form a coalition of "Patriots" amid intensified missile attacks on Ukrainian cities by Russia.

As reported by Ukrinform, the second meeting of the European Political Community was held in Chisinau on June 1, which brought together 47 heads of state and government to discuss joint efforts for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine and related crises, the protection of democracy, strengthening of energy security and stability of European states.
