Russian occupiers broke into the apartment of Zaporizhia NPP employee Serhiy Shvets and shot him with their automatic rifles, severely wounding the man. Medics are now fighting for his life at the local ER.
This was reported by Energoatom, Ukraine’s nuclear energy operator, on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"On May 23, 2022, Russian occupiers broke into the home of Serhiy Shvets, member of the Zaporizhia NPP's energy repair unit, and shot him with automatic weapons," the statement said.
According to Energoatom, the man, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, is now fighting for his life in a local hospital.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Zaporizhia NPP has been temporarily seized by Russian troops since March 4. Apart from the Russian military, Russia’s Rosatom nuclear operator's officials have long been illegally deployed at the ZNPP site.
As a result of an attack by the Russian military and the capture of ZNPP, two people were killed and the facility suffered damage.
Ukraine’s law enforcers have formally charged a Russian general, who was directly involved in the ZNPP seizure.
