“The enemy violated ceasefire in ATO area 26 times over the past day, particularly using the weapons which are banned under the Minsk agreements. Ukrainian troops returned fire in over half of the cases. As a result of the enemy shelling, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded,” the statement reads.
The tensest situation was observed in Luhansk direction, where illegal armed formations used infantry weapons, weapons on infantry combat vehicles and mortars to launch attacks on Ukrainian strongholds near Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk). ATO troops outside Troitske (69km west of Luhansk) and Novotoshkivske (53km north-west of Luhansk) came under 120mm and 82mm mortar fire. Militants also opened fire from grenade launchers and small arms on defenders of Zaitseve (67km north-north-east of Donetsk) and Krymske (42.5km north-west of Luhansk).
In Donetsk direction, Russian-backed militants shelled Ukrainian positions in the outskirts of Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk), using mortars, grenade launchers, weapons on infantry combat vehicles and small arms. ATO troops near Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Kamyanka (62km south of Donetsk), Berezove (35km south-west of Donetsk), Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk) and Nevelske (18km north-west of Donetsk) came under grenade launcher and small arms fire.
