MP Savchenko may stay in Spain - prosecutor general

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko told this to journalists on Wednesday, Ukrinform reports.

"According to tentative data, she [Savchenko] stays in the territory of Spain, therefore, taking advantage of this possibility, I directly appeal to her with the request to come for interrogation to the SBU investigator tomorrow at 11.00 and give explanations in the case... If she fails to do so, I, as prosecutor general, have enough grounds and authority to submit a motion to the Verkhovna Rada on the removal of parliamentary immunity, detention and arrest of this people's deputy," Lutsenko said.

He said that the investigation has a fairly large amount of evidence, including video and audio recordings, which reveal the picture of a planned terrorist act in the Verkhovna Rada.

"In this regard, we not only arrested Ruban, but also appealed to people's deputy Nadia Savchenko with the request to come to the SBU investigator for interrogation," Lutsenko said.

As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) issued subpoenas for MP Savchenko to come to the SBU for interrogation on March 13 and 15 in the case of Volodymyr Ruban, the head of the Officer Corps Center for Prisoner Release The SBU expects her to come at 11.00 on March 15.

Savchenko, in turn, said that she would be on a working trip to Strasbourg until March 16. She also said she had not received a formal subpoena for questioning.

Ruban was arrested on March 8 while crossing the contact line at the Mayorsk checkpoint in Donbas during an attempt to bring weapons from the temporarily occupied territory.

On March 9, a judge of the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv said at a session on the selection of a preventive measure for Ruban that he was suspected of plotting assassination attempts on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.

On March 9, the court ruled to arrest Ruban for two months without the right to post bail.

In 2015-2016, Ruban served as a negotiator for the release of prisoners held in occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

On February 27, 2017, the SBU canceled the permission for him to cross the contact line in Donbas. Such a ban was introduced by the SBU after he and MP Savchenko arrived in occupied Donetsk.
