Ukrainian Defense Minister Army General Stepan Poltorak said this during the XIV International Specialized Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment on October 10.
"In order to be better, we need to have financial resources, certain capabilities of the military and industrial complex, and, of course, to continue reforming the Armed Forces and the Defense Ministry of Ukraine. We are working in all three directions," Poltorak said.
As for the reforms, almost all planned measures were implemented in 2016. "As for funding, we received UAH 69 billion in 2017. The budget will be significantly increased in 2018. And the most important thing in budget planning for the next year is that we plan to significantly increase the financial resource for modernization and procurement of new equipment, not only of Ukrainian production," the minister said.
