EU signs document on granting additional trade preferences to Ukraine

Ukraine’s representative to the European Union Mykola Tochytskyi posted this on Facebook.

“Today in Strasbourg, the EU Regulation on granting Ukraine additional EU trade preferences for a period of three years was signed by the President of the Parliament and the Estonian Chairmanship during the plenary session. The signing completes almost a year of persistent efforts of our European partners to provide Ukraine with additional preferences for a number of important goods of Ukrainian agrarian and industrial exports,” Tochytskyi wrote.

The official document of the EU will come into effect on October 1, 2017. At the same time, some additional trade preferences for agricultural products will be available to Ukrainian producers from January 1, 2018.

Quotas for a number of agricultural products will be increased: the annual volume of additional quotas for tomatoes will be 3,000 tonnes per year; quotas for wheat – 65,000 tonnes; quotas for maize – 625,000 tonnes; quotas for barley – 325,000 tonnes.
