Interior ministry on deadly road accident presumably committed by its member in Kyiv: suspect detained, ran tox screen

"The person suspected of committing the deadly road accident at the intersection of Tupoleva and Stetsenko Streets is in custody. He will stay in a detention center until the court decides what pretrial restriction to impose against him.

"Moreover, according to the latest update, the suspect was screened for alcohol level in his blood. He refused to run a tox screen on the scene of the accident. He faces up to 8 years in prison if the court finds him guilty. However, my personal opinion is that we must significantly stiffen the responsibility for committing drunk-driving accidents," he said.

Earlier, one person died and one received injuries in the road accident at the intersection of Tupoleva and Stetsenko Streets in Kyiv late Nov. 13. The accident was allegedly committed by a drunken member of the Interior Ministry's service center.
