He said this at a joint briefing with Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I am convinced that Europe needs to urgently reconsider its position on Nord Stream 2. There is no economy there, there is no drop of commerce there - only political blackmail. I am sure that the answer should be adequate," Poroshenko said.
He said that at a meeting with the Austrian president "we also touched on the recent attempt by Gazprom to provoke a new gas crisis in Europe, deliver a sharp blow to the energy security of the European Union."
"Once again, Moscow showed its true face in terms of gas blackmail, but nothing worked. Ukrainians reacted responsibly to these threats. Despite the fact that it was very cold and Moscow always attempts to use blackmail in the worst colds, Ukraine responded with the hashtag #Turn Down, reduced consumption by 14%, but showed itself to be an extremely reliable gas supplier to Europe," Poroshenko said.
