Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko said during his Q&A session with MPs that the motion on Deidei was not a revenge for his stance in the case against dismissed head of State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov, as suggested by Deidei's fellow faction member Maksym Burbak.
"The NABU [National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine - ed.] initiated the case against Deidei's illicit enrichment on Nov. 16, 2016. This has nothing to do with Yevhen's stance [in Nasirov case - ed.]," Lutsenko said.
He assured the prosecutors have enough evidence to lift Deidei's immunity and serve him an indictment. Acting head of the regulation committee Pavlo Pynzenyk prior to the voting said the PGO and Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) presented them with incomplete evidence.
Deidei says the case against him has been trumped up and is "purely political."
On July 3, the regulation committee of the Rada considered a motion by Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko on giving consent to prosecute People's Deputy Yevhen Deidei, People's Front. The committee ruled that the PGO's motion was "not enough substantiated and motivated, and does not contain concrete facts." Источник: https://en.censor.net.ua/n447367
